Multi-Pad Privacy Policy

Published by NM Softworks

Summary: Multi-Pad is designed around files and data stored on your Windows computer. Your Multi-Pad documents, backups, recovery copies, templates, and preferences are stored in locations on your computer that you choose or in Multi-Pad's local application-data folders.

1. Multi-Pad Documents

Multi-Pad stores notes in .mpad documents. A document can contain multiple workspaces and pads, including pad text, titles, colors, positions, sizes, and workspace layout information.

You choose where a saved .mpad document is stored by using Save or Save As. Untitled documents must be saved manually before normal document autosave can write them to a file location.

2. Local Preferences, Recovery Copies, and Templates

Multi-Pad stores application preferences, crash-recovery copies, and workspace templates locally under %LOCALAPPDATA%\MultiPad on the Windows computer. Recovery and Templates use separate subfolders.

These local files support application settings, recovery of unsaved work after an interrupted session, and reusable workspace templates.

3. Backups

Multi-Pad can create automatic and manual backup copies of your work. By default, managed backups are stored in a MultiPadBackup folder associated with the document location. You may also select a separate backup location in Settings.

Backup files may contain earlier versions of notes and workspaces. Restoring a backup opens the selected copy as unsaved work so you can review it before saving it again.

4. Crash Recovery

Multi-Pad keeps local recovery copies of unsaved edits, including work in untitled documents. These copies are intended to help recover work after an interrupted session.

Saving, replacing a document, or closing normally can clear the current session's recovery copy. You can also discard recovery copies through Multi-Pad's recovery tools.

5. Recently Deleted

Pads removed from a document may be placed in Recently Deleted instead of being immediately destroyed. Recently Deleted pads remain part of the full .mpad document until they are permanently removed.

Because of this, a full .mpad document that you share can still contain Recently Deleted pads. Review Recently Deleted before sharing an entire document if that information should not be included.

6. Sharing and Exporting Workspaces

Multi-Pad lets you export a workspace as a separate .mpad file or share an entire saved .mpad document. Exporting a workspace includes that workspace's pads and layout information but excludes other workspaces and Recently Deleted pads.

Multi-Pad does not send a workspace or document merely because it has been created. A file leaves its current location only when you choose to save, copy, export, or otherwise share it through Windows or another application or service.

7. Data Received by NM Softworks

The document, backup, recovery, template, and preference features described above operate using files stored on your computer or in locations you select. NM Softworks does not receive the contents of your notes through those local Multi-Pad functions.

If you voluntarily contact NM Softworks for support, information you choose to include in that communication may be received and used to respond to your request. Avoid sending note contents or files that are not necessary for support.

8. Third-Party Storage and Services

If you choose to save, copy, export, or share a Multi-Pad file through a folder, storage provider, email application, backup system, or other third-party service, that service may handle the file according to its own privacy policy and terms.

NM Softworks does not control the privacy or security practices of services that you independently choose to use with Multi-Pad files.

9. Protecting Your Data

You are responsible for protecting your Windows account, computer, saved .mpad files, backup locations, and any external services or storage locations you choose to use. Multi-Pad provides backups, crash recovery, and Recently Deleted tools to help protect against accidental loss, but those features are not a substitute for an appropriate backup strategy for important information.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when Multi-Pad's features or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
